The Mayfair Art Weekend [ 1 ] is held once a year, when local galleries open their doors to the public.

The Royal Academy [ 2 ] hosts a free arts festival for the weekend, and this year they asked Bedroom Artists Collective [ 3 ] to run a series of artist led workshops for the public over the weekend.

As curator for the collective i helped to co-ordinate workshops for silk screen printing, nerikomi pottery techniques, collage and drawing techniques.

I also ran a workshop on natural pattern and form looking at landscapes from above.

The Overview Effect Workshop looked at various natural patterns evident in the landscape when seen from above, and then encouraged participants to map them onto a three dimensional vinyl topography.

Looking at river systems, sand dunes, rock formations, forests and human settlements, the workshop shows how process seen at close quarters becomes pattern when seen from afar.

The workshop also examined comparisons of man-made and natural porcesses and the difference in the patterns they produce.
