Principle of Least Action is a experimental installation, exploring the potential of a self-similar associative field on the perception and comprehension of morphological grammar.

Based on research into creative cognition, and energetic systems , that express a branching morphology, a shared formal property in both organic and inorganic systems, expressed both in the process of entropy and that of decay.

Normally seperated by discipline, a study of these distinct processes can take place simultaneously in an undifferentiated aesthetic continuum. The grammar of pattern setting the parameters of enquiry.

¬ SUMMARY

A connective form links the images, an abstract reduction of the patterns examined in the content, its surface coated in a material that decomposes over time, its decomposition manifesting the patterns examined in the content.

Employing a grayscale with small tonal variations. Testing the effect of minimal internal contrast on the orienting attention network, and associative cognition.

Employing small irregularities in fixings, to prevent formal resolution, to encourage further active interrogation of the relation between meaning and formal properties.
